Notes from this Centre

The Health Assessment Advisory Service at Preston Assessment Centre is situated between the Magistrates Courts and Kwik Fit on the Ringway. It has seven assessment rooms.

Please note that this assessment facility is located on the 4th floor. The centre can be accessed by lift but if an emergency evacuation of the building is required, such as a fire alarm, the lift cannot be used. There are 75 steps to the ground floor.

If you think that you would have difficulty going down the stairs unaided in the event of an emergency, please call us at least two days before your appointment date so that we can make alternative arrangements for you.

There is no parking on-site. Parking is available nearby at the top of Snow Hill (PR1 2QF).

  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Universal Credit (UC)
  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other benefit assessments for people claiming a range of benefits such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children or Veterans UK

Directions

Train

The Centre is 0.5 miles from the train station.

On leaving the station, turn right at the top of the ramp, then left at the traffic lights into Corporation Street. Go straight ahead through the next two sets of traffic lights – the Centre, inside Marshall House, is on your left.

Car

M55 Eastbound

Leave the motorway at Preston (A6). At the roundabout, turn right towards Preston (A6) then straight ahead into town. As you approach the town centre you will see the Holiday Inn. Turn right at these traffic lights. You are now on Ringway – The Centre is on your right.

M6 Northbound

Leave the motorway at junction 31. At the roundabout turn left. Go straight ahead until you come to a T junction – turn right, carry on through the traffic lights. You are now on Ringway – the Centre is on your right.

Please note, there is no parking at Marshall House – the nearest parking is at the top of Snow Hill (PR1 2QF), which is behind the Assessment Centre.

Bus

The Centre is 0.3 miles from the bus station.

Leave the bus station, go up Old Vicarage, take a right onto Lancaster Road, then left onto Ringway – The Centre, inside Marshall House, is on the right side. Bus services stop in the lay-by, adjacent to the Magistrates Courts.
