Notes from this Centre

The Health Assessment Advisory Service at Lancaster Assessment Centre is a ground floor assessment facility. It has three assessment rooms.

Follow signs for Lancaster Castle which will bring you to the bottom of the ramp for the Assessment Centre.

Customers with limited mobility can be dropped at the bottom of the ramp which is about 60 metres away from the Assessment Centre door. The ramp is long and steep.

  • PIP Assessment for people claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Universal Credit (UC)
  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other benefit assessments for people claiming a range of benefits such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children or Veterans UK

Directions

Train

Turn out of the station onto Westbourne Road, walk down the hill to the traffic lights, then turn left onto King Street. Walk to the pelican crossing at the top of Church Street and turn left. The Assessment Centre is on your right.

Car

Exit the M6 at junction 34 and follow signs for City Centre. Follow the one-way system all the way around the town centre until the traffic lights at the top of Church Street. Stay in the left lane going down the hill towards the bus station. Parking is available at the train station or at the car park on Cable Street.

Bus

Exit the bus station onto Damside Street, and turn left onto New Street, then right into Church Street. Church Street continues straight across the main road, cross at the crossing. The Centre will be on your right up the ramp.

Alternatively, the nearest bus stop to the Assessment Centre is Common Garden Street.
