Notes from this Centre

The Health Assessment Advisory Service at Inverness Assessment Centre is located on the fourth floor and has three assessment rooms. It can be accessed by lift, but if an emergency evacuation of the building is required such as a fire alarm, the lifts cannot be used. There are 64 steps (eight sets of eight steps) to the ground floor.

If you think that you would have difficulty going down the stairs unaided in the event of an emergency, please call us at least two days before your appointment date so we can make alternative arrangements for you.

There are several car parks nearby, including the Eastgate Shopping Centre (IV2 3PP), Millburn Road (IV2 3PX) and Falcon Gallery car park (IV2 3PP).

  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other benefit assessments for people claiming a range of benefits such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children or Veterans UK

Directions

Train

Inverness station is located 0.6 miles from the Assessment Centre. Exit the train station on Academy Street. Cross the road onto Union Street, turn left onto Church Street and then turn right onto Bridge Street. Cross Ness Bridge and continue on Young Street. The Centre is in the Jobcentre Plus building on the right side.

Car

From A82:
Follow signs to the city centre. When you reach the Tomnahurich roundabout, exit onto Glenurquhart Road. Continue to follow the road as it turns left and becomes Tomnahurich Street. Turn right onto View Place, then take a sharp right onto Castle Road. Turn left onto Young Street.

Bus

The nearest bus stop to the Assessment Centre is King Street, less than 400 feet away.
Upon leaving the bus, walk up and cross Ness Bridge. Continue onto Young Street. The Assessment Centre is inside River House.
