The Health Assessment Advisory Service at Halifax (St James Road) Assessment Centre is a ground floor assessment facility. It has six assessment rooms.

Parking is available to the front and side of the building.

  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Universal Credit (UC)
  • Work Capability Assessment for people claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Other benefit assessments for people claiming a range of benefits such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children or Veterans UK

Directions

Train

Halifax train station is located approximately 0.6 miles from the Assessment Centre.
After leaving the station, walk down Horton Street, and continue straight on to Ward’s End. Continue straight on onto Fountain Street, then follow the road as it bears round onto Cow Green. Turn left into St James Road.

Car

From M62 (junction 24):
Follow the A629 (Calderdale Way/Huddersfield Road/Skircoat Road) towards Halifax town centre. Carry on along Fountain Street and Cow Green (following signs for Leeds A58). St James Road is on the left after junction with Pellon Lane.
From east on A58:
Follow A58 towards Halifax town centre. At the roundabout (with traffic lights) continue straight on. Take the next slip road. Turn left onto Pellon Lane. At the end of Pellon Lane (junction with Cow Green), turn left, then left again onto St James Road.

 

Bus

The closest bus stop to the Assessment Centre is Broad Street 30, approximately 0.2 miles away.
After leaving the bus, walk down Broad Street towards Town Hall Street. Turn right onto Orange Street, then left onto Great Albion Street. Take a final right onto St James Road.
