Notes from this Centre

The Health Assessment Advisory Service at Carlisle Assessment Centre is a first floor assessment facility with two assessment rooms.

The Assessment Centre can be accessed by lift but if an emergency evacuation of the building is required, such as a fire alarm, the lift cannot be used. There are 23 steps to the ground floor.

If you think that you would have difficulty using the stairs unaided in the event of an emergency, please call us at least two days before your appointment.

Pay and display parking is available in The Lanes (CA3 8DP). Limited disabled parking is available on Castle Street (CA3 8SY) nearby.

Directions

Train

Carlisle train station is located approximately 0.4 miles away from the station.

Exit the station and walk to the traffic lights on the left. Cross the road to the left, then carry onto the next set of lights. Cross the road to the pedestrian area – walk through, keeping left, carrying onto Castle Street. The road on your right is St Mary’s Gate. Further down on the left side is a black door between two stone pillars. Enter through this door and go up to the first floor (lift available). Once you are on the balcony, enter through the door opposite (number 2).

Car

The nearest large car park is The Lanes (CA3 8DP). From the car park go to the ground floor, turn right and go through The Lanes before taking a left onto Scotch Street.

Continue down Scotch Street before taking a right through the arch. Turn right out of the arch, then left onto Treasury Court. St Mary’s Gate will then be facing you across Fisher Street. Further down on the left side is a black door between two stone pillars. Enter through this door and go up to the first floor (lift available). Once you are on the balcony, enter through the door opposite (number 2).

Bus

The nearest bus stop to the Assessment Centre is Market Hall, approximately 0.1 miles away.

Upon leaving the bus, walk towards Market Street and turn onto it. Turn left onto Fisher Street, then right onto St Mary’s Gate. Further down on the left side is a black door between two stone pillars. Enter through this door and go up to the first floor (lift available). Once you are on the balcony, enter through the door opposite (number 2).
